Course Outline
This course provides the participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(ies), managment of the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
Pre-requisites
Must hold a First Aid certificate or equivalent
Delivery Method
Online/ Workbook – You are required to either complete an on-line theory module or a workbook prior to our practical face-to-face session. This will involve some pre-course reading and the completion of theory questions.
Course Subjects
- Apply First Aid to a casualty suffering crush injuries
- Maintain the correct WorkCover documentation & legislative requirements of an Occupational First Aider
- Undertake the correct requirements for running a First Aid Centre & apply correct administration for medications
- Demonstrate the safe use of Medical Oxygen Equipment and administer Oxygen Therapy and Resuscitation to a casualty
- Demonstrate an understanding of Toxicological Hazards and the use of Material Safety Data Sheets
- Assess the hazards of confined spaces
- Administer First Aid for casualties suffering from extremes of temperature
- Administer First Aid for minor wounds & apply infection control procedures
- Health effects of occupational hazards
Assessment
Assessment will involve a practical demonstration of skills and a short theory assessment

Accreditation
This is a Nationally Accredited course and upon successful completion students will be awarded the recognised Statement of Attainment in HLTFA402B – Apply Advance First Aid.
